Want a way to grow from 76 to 92 plants with only 1/2 gallon of water a day while only using a combined 1 square foot of land?  Do you want to have a beautiful flower or vegetable garden but don’t have the space?  Do you love having luscious vegetation all around you but are tired of the back aches of bending over and having to constantly do weeding? If you have answered yes to any of these questions concerning conservation, space, care, or waste, then Living Tapestries  “The Fence That Grows” is for you!

Living Tapestries,  The Fence That Grows” is a unique concept in vertical gardening and flower beds.  The 30 kits come complete with planting medium and an interconnecting internal watering system in a variety of sizes for small balconies for condos, privacy back-drops around patios, pools and spas, sound barriers.  Living Tapestries can be hooked up to an existing sprinkler system , or just hooked up to a hose.  Using specially designed water catch trays and re-circulating pumps the indoor models are great for tropical and house plants.  “All the plants and vegetables on our suggested plant list have been fully tested in our R & D facility in Colorado and grow extremely well” says Mark Humble, the inventor of Living Tapestries.

Mr. Humble came up with the idea for Living Tapestries in 1987 for a friend who loved gardening but was confined to a wheelchair.  “The wheels and footrests were really hard to work around,” said Mr. Humble, “so I tried to come up with a way that she could sit in her chair and plant at chest level.  Just move the chair up to it like you would the edge of a desk.”  Mark went on to say, “The original design was only a single panel made out of redwood and didn’t have the irrigation system.”  It took 10 years of testing a variety of designs, planting mediums and irrigation systems to finally come up with a combination for a viable fencing system that would actually grow healthy, sturdy plants while being water conscious. I wanted to develop a way to grow a large number of plants without using a lot of water.  Our “Fence That Grows” offer water savings.  Each 44” x 22” panel has planting spaces for 76 to 92 plants if you plant both sides, and only needs 1/2 gallon of water per day per panel”

Living Tapestries is now built using white vinyl plastic for a very rich, elegant look. It is UV protected so it won’t fade in the sun and reflects heat. The Fence That Grows” acts as a natural swamp cooler in the summer because of the moisture retained in the planting medium.

Uses for Living Tapestries, “The Fence That Grows” are limited only to your imagination! People are using “The Fence That Grows” for a variety of home uses!  Privacy backdrops between neighbors, around pool/spa and air conditioner equipment, backdrops for landscape waterfalls and fountains, living archways, "spa" kits for privacy, and wind breakers, to name a few uses.  Salad lovers are growing spinach, romaine, endive, and other leaf lettuce on one side and flowers and herbs on the other side!  Just imagine picking a fresh salad from your own patio!  Living Tapestries has kits that are free standing or can be sunk into the ground for a permanent fence or structure.
