Before inserting each panel, make sure the panel is correct side up, and all of the back sides are on same side of fence.

The top of the panel has the black irrigation hose, the bottom irrigation pipe is white.

-  The back sides of panels have the hose connections in the corners.

3.

Place the panels into theng created by crossbeams and posts. Be sure crossbeams are centered within the posts, and adjust fence frame so that panels fit snugly by pushing the fence posts inward.

4.

Secure the top and bottom cross beams into the posts by inserting screws into cross beams through the hollow top and bottom post holengs (see diagram below). This will keep the cross beams from sliding out and help create a sturdy fence structure.

5.

To secure panels into fence posts, insert four screws at 45 degree angles to the face of the panel (from the back side) through the wood from the inside of frame into the 4x4 fence posts (two per side, equal distance apart). See diagram below.

Note: If unit will be ground-recessed, please skip to Step 8.

For free-standing units or mounting with "L" brackets, please continue with Step 6.

6.

After all panels are secured, hook up interconnect irrigation system. Using 1/2" hose and 90-degree "L" shaped joints, connect together the irrigation systems. Use white plugs to cap off connection holes not used.  (TIP: A dab of plumbers silicone on "L" joints is helpful.) See Side View diagram below.

7.

After irrigation system is interconnected, the kit is now ready to mount to concrete using metal "L" brackets or screw into redwood feet. (For further instructions on installation using "L" brackets, please contact us.)

To Recess Unit into the Ground:

8.

Living TapestriesTM  suggests that The Fence That Grows be sunken into the ground (ground-recessed) by actually sinking redwood 4"x4" posts into the ground in concrete and sliding the white fence post over the redwood 4"x4" and securing each fence post with bolts and nuts (or four screws).

a. Dig holes approximately 18" deep (24" deep for 6' fence) and 48" apart, measuring from the center of one hole to the center of the other hole.

b. Length of redwood 4"x4" should be the depth of the hole. (When redwood 4x4 is in the hole, the top of the redwood 4"x4" should be at ground level.) Insert redwood 4x4 into bottom of plastic 4"x4" fence post and bolt together (four sides if using screws) as shown in the following diagram.

c. Holding the fence in upright, insert posts into cement caisson. (NOTE: Fence should be level before pouring cement into caissons.) After adding cement, allow to dry completely.  Follow recommended drying time instruction included on cement bag.

Note:  If you intend to take the fence with you when you move or change landscaping, do NOT fill the caisson completely with cement. ONLY FILL TO THE LEVEL WHERE THE WHITE 4"x4" FENCE POST STARTS. This way, you can dig down to the bolts, take the bolts out and slide off the white fence post.

9.

After cement has dried, connect the irrigation system. (You will be applying some pressure to the fence so be sure cement is thoroughly dry.)  Follow Step 6 for connecting irrigation system.

10.

Check to see that watering system is working properly. If so, you are ready to plant!

Note:  Make sure that the panels are right-side-up for correct irrigation in your unit. All watering connections should be in the back of the fence, and the two connections should be toward the bottom of each panel.
