Plants growing in
bedding packs or in pots of 2 1/4" diameter or smaller are the best
sizes to use. When selecting
plants for your Fence That Grows, be sure your selections all have
similar watering requirements.
-
Be sure the moss is
thoroughly moistened before beginning to plant. This can be accomplished by
using the irrigation system in the units or by thoroughly wetting with a hose.
-
Start planting from the
bottom of the panel and move upward. This
will help spread the moss evenly throughout the panel, as some settling does occur during
shipping. Using your fingers, spread the moss to create a hole in the pocket
created by the lattice.
-
Place the root ball of
the transplant into this pocket.
-
Move the moss back
around the root ball of the transplant.
It may be necessary to use additional wet moss to be sure that the
roots are completely covered.
-
After planting, an
additional watering to settle the moss using the irrigation system is
advised. If necessary, fill in
the top of the panel with additional moss to make sure there is no gap
between the moss and the irrigation system located along the inside top of
each panel. If a gap occurs,
the system will not distribute the water evenly throughout the panel.
-
Watering frequency
depends on temperature and humidity levels in your particular climate.
Periodically, additional moss may be added to back-fill the top of
the panel if any additional settling occurs.
-
Seeds can also be
planted in the moss using the above technique.
Just make sure they are securely planted in a pocket of moss.

Fertilize your Living
Tapestries fence at least once a month. This
can be accomplished in one of several ways. If your Fence That Grows is an indoor model, use any
water-soluble fertilizer and place fertilizer in water catch tray to
distribute with your normal watering. Outdoor
Living Tapestries fence panels may be fertilized using an injector
fertilizer system (an accessory of Living Tapestries), or by spraying the
plants with a hose system such as Miracle Grow. Fertilizing more
often than once a month is not necessary but may be done. However, be
careful not to over feed your plants.
